Si vous avez choisi comme conseillé dans l’article précédent l’hôtel H10 en sortant juste à droite vous trouverez celui qui demeure notre magasin préféré dans le monde KADEWE. Ce magasin ouvrit ses portes en 1907 puis en novembre 1943, la chute d’un bombardier américain abattu par la Flak détruisit le magasin. Il rouvrit en 1950 après une reconstruction partielle qui ne sera complétée qu’en 1956. Le magasin a été pendant la guerre froide et la partition de la ville, le symbole du monde capitaliste et celui de la résistance de Berlin -Ouest face au régime communiste de la RDA.

Il s’agit du plus célèbre grand magasin d’Allemagne, et avec ses 60 000 m2 de surface de vente, du plus grand magasin du continent européen. Au KaDeWe, on trouve tout ce qui fait battre le cœur : vous avez le choix entre plus de 380 000 articles. Le sixième des sept étages est particulièrement renommé et quasiment légendaire : le rayon Epicerie fine. Environ 100 cuisiniers ainsi que 40 pâtissiers et boulangers préparent pour leurs hôtes sur plus de 30 stands gastronomiques des spécialités culinaires du monde entier. Avec plus de 1000 places assises à cet étage, le KaDeWe est le plus grand restaurant de la ville. C’est un endroit incroyable. Stand Bocuse, Lenôtre,Dom Perignon, des buffets de salades jamais vus, des stands de poissons et langoustes frais cuits devant vous, des stands de Saucisses bières. Le Food Hall d’Harrods est battu par KO. Car en prime les prix y sont très raisonnables. Le rayon vin sera une étape indispensable pour tout amateur éclairé.

Nous avons été impressioné par l’étage jouets et peluches qui fera rêver même les grands enfants que nous sommes. Et en plus vous irez faire emballer votre cadeau au sous sol ou le personnel vous proposera de choisir votre papier, votre couleur de ruban, et de l’emballer à l’ancienne sans adhésif. La classe.
